ADMISSIONS INTEGRATION REVIEW

The processes for admissions, and the support role of the Arion system, have an impact on AUT’s success rate in turning applications into EFTS, and therefore revenue. A study completed in 2004 identified that the average turn-around time between application and resolution could exceed 30 days. Through the 2004/05 admissions “season”, Registry and Faculty/School staff applied their best endeavours and energies, and leveraged the information available, to deliver the best turn-around outcomes within the current process and systems environment. However, while this extra focus delivered improvements, “working harder” is not seen as a sustainable long-term solution.

Within this context, the AIR (Admissions Integration Review) project was initiated in May 2005, under the sponsorship of John Williams, General Manager Services and Operations. The objectives of AIR were to optimise AUT processes and systems, ensure complete integration between processes, and balance the roles played by the Registry, the Faculties/Schools and University Relations and Advancement to deliver the best outcomes for the University.

This website captures the critical information from the AIR Project. It is intended as a source of reference for AUT people involved in the admissions and enrolments processes, and to promote understanding of the issues and solutions. The website is seen as a living source, with updates to information by readers encouraged. It is also envisaged that AIR2 will be convened in – say – March/April 2006 to review the 2005/06 enrolments “season”, and to maintain a “continuous improvement” approach to this critical issue.
