As Director of Research Management, Professor Tan is engaged in the development of research policy and in negotiating, developing and maintaining systems and mechanisms that enhance the University’s research profile and performance. As Head of the University Research Office, he is responsible for overseeing the activities of those involved in negotiating research contracts, co-ordinating research administration systems, and providing high quality assistance in respect of research management and information.

Dr Ellen Förch is responsible for promoting research culture, including policy development and operational support for new initiatives. She is committed to the acceleration of research at AUT as a new university of technology. An important part of her role is raising awareness and competence in obtaining external research money and forming links with key stakeholders and user groups. She also works closely with the commercialisation arm of AUT.

Filomena Davies's role as Research Information Manager includes providing advice and assistance to support research in the University Faculties, particularly with regard to external funding opportunities. An important part of her responsibilities is the negotiation and management of research contracts and associated documents. She is also responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of systems to manage research information for the University.

Liana De Jong's role is to assist in reviewing applications to external funding bodies to ensure that they are compliant with funding agency requirements, and to liaise with researchers on areas of contractual obligation such as reporting and appropriate contract variation. Her position has a focus on providing support to postgraduate students in locating and securing funding.

Bernadette Gleeson is the PA/Administrator for the University Research Office.  Her role is to provide a high standard of administrative support to the Directors and Research Information Manager in the University Research Office, and also provides a link between the University Research Office and AUT research staff. Bernadette is the first point of contact for enquiries to the University Research Office.
