UNIVERSITY RESEARCH

The Research Development Plan adopted by AUT University articulates a vision for New Zealand’s 21st century university as:

  • An innovative, modern University that values scholarship as the dynamic integration of research, teaching and learning, engagement and discovery.
  • A University that recognises and appreciates different forms of knowledge.
  • A University that is inextricably engaged with the Auckland Metropolitan centre, the country and the region (Asian Pacific) of the world in which it is situated.
  • A University that is recognised for the quality of its graduates and the scholarship characteristics and endeavours of its academic and administrative staff.
  • A University that is distinguished by its commitment to New Zealand’s economic and social development and by the way in which the programmes and activities of the University meet the educational aspirations of the diverse populations and groups that it serves.

It is the Schools and Faculties of the University as well as the dedicated Research Institutes and Centres that provide the framework for research in business and industry, the arts and humanities, health and environmental sciences and design and creative technologies.  It is within these academic structures of the University where the “rubber meets the road” – where research and learning come together.

This website provides a general introduction to the wide range of research programmes being conducted across the University.
