The main objective of the migrant and refugee cluster is to advance and promote research on migrant and refugee settlement in New Zealand. Initially, the focus of the cluster will be on drawing together research capabilities and doing research on migrant and refugee education*, and development particularly for adults.
However, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Policy (IPP), the Centre for Asian and Migrant Health Research (CAMHR), the School of Social Sciences, the School of Education and the School of Languages (incorporating the Centre for Refugee Education); the cluster will also, in time, address other pressing issues of settlement such as policy, housing, employment, youth and family development.
* education - will encompass workplace training of adults too
